Statement on Data Protection
Respecting the personal rights of our users is an important principle for DECVET. The DECVET web offering can be used without personal information being disclosed. Personal information is only collected for technical purposes, for example if you sign up to be on a newsletter mailing list.
The following statement provides you with an overview of how DECVET ensures the protection of your data and of the types of data that are collected and the purpose of doing so.
Data processing on this website
Data are collected and exchanged every time a website is visited. The computing center of the University of Jena (host of www.decvet.net) automatically collects and stores data that your browser transfers to our server. This includes:
- your internet browser type/version
- the operating system being used
- the loaded web page
- the previously visited page (referrer URL)
- time of the server request
The computing center of the University of Jena analyzes this data solely for statistical purposes in order to measure the demand for DECVET web offerings. These data are not merged with other data sources. Data that were logged during access to the DECVET web offering are only transferred to third parties in so far as we are obliged to do so by law or under a court order. Data will also be transferred in the case of attacks on the DECVET internet infrastructure that are subject to legal or criminal prosecution. Data will not be transferred for any other reason.
Cookies
The DECVET website uses so-called session cookies, which are used to identificate visitors and prevent session misuses. Session cookies are small information units that a provider stores in the active memory of the visiting user's computer. A randomly generated, unique ID number, a so-called session ID, is stored in a session cookie. A cookie also contains information as to its origin and the period of time it is to reside on a computer. These cookies cannot store any further types of data.
Other providers use permanent cookies to recognize visitors returning after a longer period of time. This type of information is stored as a text file on the hard drive of the user's computer. In contrast to this, the session cookies used by DECVET are deleted as soon as you end a session or close the browser.
Handling Cookies
All internet browsers can handle cookies. Most browsers are set up to accept all cookies without asking the user for permission. If you would like to use the www.decvet.net to the full extent, please set up your browser to accept session cookies.
Data pertaining to the dispatch of newsletters
When you sign up to be on a mailing list for a DECVET newsletter, your e-mail address and all datas you inscribed in the form are stored on our server. We use this information solely for purposes of dispatching newsletters. We neither pass on this data to third parties nor use it for any other purposes of our own. Our registration system, which includes a confirmation message containing a web link to finalize registration (double-opt-in), ensures that you have explicitly requested the newsletter.
E-Mails to the DECVET-Team
When you send us an e-mail, its contents and your e-mail address will be used solely for purposes of corresponding with you. When using the contact form your request will automatically be forwarded to the Evaluation Research Team of the DECVET initiative (Chair of Business and Economics Education, University Jena and Chair of Research on Vocational Education and Training, University Magdeburg).
